- Built a pipeline on Hadoop to generate model files used for topic inference (of text)
- Sped up topic inference by 10x while improving quality
Data Science Intern, Facebook, Palo Alto (Fall 2010)
- Studied the impact of "negative events" on user engagement
- Explored a machine learning approach to photo recommendation (but it didn't do well)
- Analyzed status updates and blogged about it
Data Science Intern, Facebook, Palo Alto (Winter 2010)
- Built data tools used by other analysts; connected web tools to R for testing and forecasting
- Expanded the Gross National Happiness index to many more countries, and blogged about it
- Studied the correlation between relationship status and happiness, and blogged about it
Software Engineer, Tagged, San Francisco (Summer 2009)
- Analytics platform: built UI to edit tracked metrics, organized the display of AB test results
- Analyzed effects of games on site traffic; analyzed suspicious user behaviour
- Built new site features: a new registration path, a converter between game currencies
